SPORT/FUTEBOL FAQ

Are you a Soccer Academy?

No.  We are a Not-For-Profit Club that has been offering Futebol (soccer) since 1965.  Our program is run by volunteers with a goal offering a high level of player development and player opportunities while aiming to keep player fees low.

Please visit our Futebol page to learn more about our program, our Futebol mission and principals.

Why do you call it Futebol?

Our club was established in 1965 by a group of New Canadians from Portugal who brought their love of Futebol (soccer) to their new home.  We value and cherish our history and heritage and to help us celebrate and honour our club’s beginnings we have started to refer to our program as Futebol Program – Futebol meaning football/soccer in Portuguese.

Beware - If you’re heard using the word soccer in and around the club you might be asked to put a quarter in a jar!

Do you have to be Portuguese to play for Oriental Sport Club?

Absolutely not! One of our Guiding Principals is Respect and we are committed to building a respectful environment for all, in which we celebrate and embrace Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
