CULTURAL & COMMUNITY PARTNER: Império Das Crianças

The Children's Festival, better known as “Império Das Crianças”, dates back to many centuries ago. This deep rooted Portuguese tradition was established in the Cambridge area in 1980. Our IDC group is a volunteer based, dedicated to the religious and cultural aspect of the Divinity of the Holy Spirit.

JANUARY: "Sopas"

Soup for All - This event dates back to the 13th century whereby the Portuguese Monarchy celebrated with community members, the significance and devotion to the Holy Spirit. This celebration consists of the sharing of “Sopas”, and it’s community members demonstrating prayer, cooking and eating. These festivities promote sociability, collaboration and kindness to all.

MARCH & OCTOBER: "Mantanca" & Festa do Peixe

“Matanca do Porco” (March) and “Festa do Peixe” (October) are longstanding Portuguese tradition going beyond the giving of food.  This social event allows Families, Neighbors and Friends the opportunity to celebrate the spirit of helping others; mutual giving and receiving.
